This page is a retrospective look at 2003 and the most important thing about the year was that it was 40 years since 1963 was the year in which we married and Kennedy was shot. August 31st 1963 has been celebrated in San Francisco at Scoma’s restaurant, we sailed to the Greek Island of Symi for our 25th, went back for our 30th and have also been in Paris, Italy and of course at home in Norwich. No plans are set in stone when sailing but this year the plan was to get to Reggio Calabria about the 28th August and have an Italian meal out in the town.  Go to Alone Round the Toe and click on the central photograph to read what became of that plan.

As well as the 40th Anniversary of this beautiful event we sailed Compromis from Antibes around Italy to Venice, back down the Croatia coast and then back to Antibes via Sicily.

At least 3000nM in all and it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of a great group of friends.  Go to April to May to read how it all came together.

However, the person that I really have to thank is the pretty girl in white.  We raced and cruised Brandy Bottle in the North Sea but circumstances in the late 90’s led to a change of boat and cruising area so we could sail together more. Read about it in Our Articles.
